About Pissouri

Pissouri in Cyprus offers a fantastic location for a family holiday within a beautiful setting and a warm year round climate, making it a great destination for an out of season holiday, as well as a family summer holiday.

Pissouri

Set in the south west of the Island and flanked by Limassol and Paphos, Pissouri is a haven of calm.

Neither fashionable, nor brash, Pissouri retains the charm of a traditional Cypriot village, while still being able to provide everything you need for a relaxed and varied family holiday.

Characterful buildings huddle around the tightly curving streets of the old village, while slightly further out, the newer developments take advantage of the magnificent views.

The village square, quiet and somnambulant during the heat of the day, comes alive in the evening as visitors and villagers gather in a hubbub of small bars and traditional restaurants. The Cyprus night on a Wednesday evening is an event not to be missed with its heady mix of music, food and dancing./p>

Pissouri Bay

The beach at Pissouri Bay is a 5-minute drive away down the hill-side.

The protected bay gently curves in either direction and the gradual slope of the beach makes it ideal for children. There is a small selection of water-sports and sun-beds for hire.

Behind the beach, an assortment of shops and restaurants cater for the day-time and evening visitors. Pissouri Bay has a younger, more tourist-led feel than the square, but it is still a far cry from the traditional image of a tourist ‘resort’.

Cyprus

Cyprus offers endless opportunities to relax and enjoy a summer or winter holiday.

Said to be a gift from Mark Anthony to Cleopatra, Cyprus is the sunniest and hottest of all the Mediterranean islands. The island has a superb climate and excellent tourist infrastructure.

A wealth of beaches fringe over 800km of coastline, all of which are magnificently clean. The renowned beaches of Aphrodite’s Rock, Coral Bay and Latchi are all within a comfortable drive of Pissouri.

Inland, it is just as spectacular. The Troodos Mountains are the home to Byzantine monasteries and stone-built villages. The pine-scented slopes have a cool, alpine feel that contrast with the heat of the coast.

Slightly further afield, a visit to Nicosia is recommended for its shopping, as is a trip into Northern Cyprus, which can be managed in a full day. EU nationals with a valid passport can cross from the north to the south at any time.

In the evening, you can enjoy a quiet meal and drink or dance until dawn. Beyond Pissouri, Limassol offers a wide selection of clubs and discos. Meanwhile, friendly bars, shops and harbour-side tavernas feature in the more leisurely Paphos.

The flight time to Cyprus from the UK is approximately 4-4½ hours with flights available into Larnaca and Paphos from most UK airports.
